My Mom just got news from the doctor. It isn't congestive heart failure or cancer. So things are looking up a little.

Also, if any of you are going to be at Aquire the Fire in Indianapolis this weekend, leave a comment, or IM me (tsmwp is my sn) Maybe we can meet, if you want to.

[ mood | drained ]

Well... today is my first full day of Spring Break. It hasn't been the best one so far, since last night I learned that one of my Mom's lungs is filling with fluid and this might be a sign of congestive heart failure. We won't know anything more until next week.

This morning my Grandpa had died.

Prayer for my whole family would be good. There's not much more I can do about any of this, and things have just been hard lately... I'm exhausted in every sense of the word. I was thinking of just taking a few days to fall off the face of lj, but i'll probably be around to read any comments.

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30.

Isaiah 41:8 "But you, O Israel, my servant,
Jacob, whom I have chosen,
you descendants of Abraham my friend,
9 I took you from the ends of the earth,
from its farthest corners I called you.
I said, 'You are my servant';
I have chosen you and have not rejected you.
10 So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Luke 7
Jesus Raises a Widow's Son
11Soon afterward, Jesus went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd went along with him. 12As he approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried out--the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her. 13When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, "Don't cry."
14Then he went up and touched the coffin, and those carrying it stood still. He said, "Young man, I say to you, get up!" 15The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.

God is compassionate.

That is too easy to forget.

Matthew 7

Ask, Seek, Knock
7"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.
9"Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! 12So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

Prayer is needed, for several reasons.

My Church is in a bit of financial trouble... not huge, but they don't want to have to cut anything from the budget. Pray that God would provide.

My friend, who isn't a believer, is depressed and trying to find herself. Pray for her heart to be opened and for God to work through me or some one to reach her... and that I would have wisdom and a spirit of gentleness when I talk to her.

Then there is me

To put it bluntly, I'm bitter. My own malice scares me... and I'm not sure what comes next. Self-loathing is a tremendously selfish emotion, and it doesn't seem to want to go away. I'm trying to keep proper motives, but my mind and heart are very confused places right now.

I also need help to connect with people in my youth group. I tend to back into my dark anti-social corner,I like my dark anti-social corner, but I know that is not what God wants from me there.

Thanks for reading.

Hello everyone... I haven't posted here in a long time...

Well anyway, I really need prayer right now. I have been depressed. I'm trying not to be bitter. I also need discernment in choosing classes for my senior year, since they will affect my college choices a lot after the dive my GPA is taking this semester.

But I did survive finals. That is only by the grace of God.

He's my savior [28 Dec 2003|06:00pm]

He's my savior.
What else is there to say?
Why don't people see that he's the savior of the World?
He's the man that was born of a virgin.
He's the man who was God's son.
He's the man that showed us the miracles.
He's the man who took our sins and died on the cross.
He's the man who resurected on the third day.
He's Jesus Christ.
He's my savior.

God Uses me?

Spcripture Reflection
God uses upright people for fulfilling His mission. We are uprigh, not of our own accord, rather through the redemption that is ours through Jesus. As upright, yet still sinful people, we follow God's commands.

The Journey~3
Bill told Julie what God had caused him to realize regarding what to say about Jesus. She laughed when he told her about the application of his favorite phrase."I didn't know I was married know I was married to someone so profound!"

She continued with a concern that had been on her mind."I'm not sure I'm qualified to talk about Jesus,"she said."After all, I'm not some holy person who has given up her career for Christ, or something like that. Why would God use me?"

Bill then reflected about himself. Sure, he went to church ever Sunday. But, he wasn't a perfect saint, either. He remebered how he had lost his temper at work and how he had brocken his promise to Jenny, working late and missing her perfomence in the school play. Ho would God use someone imperfect in His mission?

As he drove home from work, he noted a bumper sticker that read "I'm not perfect-just forgiven." Bill reconized he wasn't qualified because he was perfect, but becaus, through Christ, he was holy and upright in the sight of God. THat was the only perquisite necessary for God to use him. Bill chuckled, thinking,"Who knew I'd realize something so profound from a bumper sticker?"

Reality Journey
Do you feel unualified to be involved in God's Mission? Tealize the forgivness of God in your life. Christ uses you because you are upright in the sight of God through His atoning sacrafice.

Paryer Focus
Pray for Forgivness of any self-centered forcus in your life, at the same time requesting,"God, use me in your mission."

What Would I say?
Read this:Luke 1:3-4

Scripture Reflection
Our faith is grounded in the truth of God's word. The Holy Spirit guides us into all truth causing us us to know the certainty of God's promises and their fulfillment in Christ.

THE JOURNEY~ Day 2
It had been a restless night for Bill. He talked with Julie about the "Advent Challenge" over morning coffee. They both felt that people needed to believe in Jesus. Yet, the thought of talking to an unbeliever made them nervous, "What Would I say?"

Bill headed off to take Sam to school. Julie left for school whre she taught 4th grade, with their 8-year-old daughter, Jenny, in tow. The question lingered in Bill's head, "What would I say?"

Bill had the repution of being the best systems analyst at his company. He never met a computer problem that he couldn't solve. When asked the secret to his sucess, he would reply,"I know what I know and what I know, I apply!" Then he would smile, confident in abilities.

Today, when he made the very statemen, it occurred to him-that's what he would say about Jesus. He knew. He had been taught the stories about Jesus and the truth of God's word. Through faith, he was certain of his beliefs-He only needed to say what he knew.

The Spirit affirmed this in him. Bill smiled and thought,"I know what I know and I what I know, I apply"

REALITY JOURNEY
Witness and application are based in cerainty of the things you have been taught about Jesus from God's word. What would you say about Jesus to someone else?

PRAYER FOCUS
Pray for God to confirm you faith, being certain of the things you have been taught, and to guide you witness, applying what you know about him.

The Advent challenge

Scripture Reflection

Advent reminds us of all God has fulfilled in Christ's second coming to this earth, all he fufills now through Word and Sacrament, and all to be fulfilled until, and when, Jesus comes again. He continues to fulfill his purposes among us and through us.

The Journey~ Day 1

Bill wood and his wife, Julie, strolled across the parking lot after Sunday worship. The pastor had spoken about God's fulfilled, and yet to be fulfilled, work in this world. He gave the Church members an "Advent Challenge- " to give somebody the gift of Jesus for Christmas." These words kept on ringing in Bill's ears:"Do you know someone who doesn't believe in Jesus?"

Bill thought about all God had fulfilled in his life- Jesus' coming on the Last day, the misson of taking the Gospel to all people, and every Christian witnessing about Jesus to unchurched and unbelieving people. Bill had not thought about these things. Now we have been chalenged" to give somebody a gift of Jesus for Christmas."

Bill wondered,"Can I do this?" He poundered,"Shouldn't everybody have a life fulfilled by Jesus? Who do I know...." Just then, Bill's 14-year-old son, Sam, came across the parking lot and exclaming,"Where are we going for lunch?!"

Reality Journey

Do you know someone who doesn't believe in Jesus as Savior, or has fallen away from chruch? Take the "Advent Challenge" to give him or her gift of Jesus for Christmas.

Prayer Focus

Pray for God to open doors for you to speack the Gospel message of Christ to that person.

More

Take a look at the mountain
Stretching a mile high
Take a look at the ocean
Far as your eye can see
And think of me

Take a look at the desert
Do you feel like a grain of sand?
I am with you wherever
Where you go is where I am

And I’m always thinking of you
Take a look around you
I’m spelling it out one by one

Chorus:

I love you more than the sun
And the stars that I taught how to shine
You are mine and you shine for me too
I love you yesterday and today
And tomorrow I’ll say it again and again

I love you more

Just a face in the city
Just a tear on a crowded street
But you are one in a million
And you belong to me
And I want you to know
I’m not letting go
Even when you come undone

Bridge:

Shine for me
Shine for me
Shine on, shine on
Shine for me
